on Monday to advance talks about the possibility of putting a South African Grand Prix back on the race calendar for 2023.

Stefano Domenicali will meet officials from the Kyalami Circuit in Gauteng to strike a deal that will bring the sport back to Africa. Mzansi hasn't staged an F1 race since 1993, and South Africa will end its three-decade wait to host another GP if these talks are successful.

However, all of that is likely to change next year, largely thanks to the views shared by some of the sport's top drivers. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has expressed his desire for South Africa to host a race in 2023, and it appears his request has been accepted.

The addition of a race in South Africa could mean that F1 will have to deal with a 24-race calendar for the first time in its history. But with the sport's popularity skyrocketing recently, Domenicali and his colleagues are under pressure to give the public what he wants.
