According to an autopsy, Demaryius Thomas, a former NFL wide receiver, died due to complications from his seizure illness
According to the Denver Post, that was the Fulton County Medical Examiner's official conclusion.
The medical examiner was unable to identify whether football-related brain damage could have been the cause of the seizure disease.
The Medical Examiner's report stated that Mr. Thomas's seizures' etiology was not included in the reviewed medical records. It is unknown whether Thomas' seizure disorder is the result of natural causes or head injuries suffered during his professional football career.
Thomas's family revealed last month that Boston University scientists had examined his brain and found that he had Stage 2 CTE.
