Brett Favre
Brett Favre, a future Hall of Fame quarterback, is edging closer to becoming Paul Crewe.
According to Anna Wolfe of Mississippi Today, recently discovered text messages demonstrate that former Mississippi governor Phil Bryant assisted in diverting federal assistance funding to the University of Southern Mississippi's construction of a new volleyball stadium at Favre's request. According to the study, the texts demonstrate that Bryant gave Favre advice on how to draught a funding proposal for it to be approved.
Bud Holmes, Favre's attorney, said that Favre was unaware that the monies originated from poverty programs.
Holmes remarked on Monday that "Brett Favre has been honorable throughout this entire thing."
A representative from Mississippi
Favre had previously denied speaking with Bryant about the volleyball project. Contrary to the text texts cited in the story claim, $5 million was allegedly donated to the institution.
It was initially revealed that the former quarterback was involved in the welfare scam when he claimed he received $1.1 million for work he allegedly didn't accomplish. Eventually, he paid back the loan. He has been sued for the interest on the money he received and gave back.
Bennie Thompson, a representative from Mississippi, asked the Department of Justice to look into the matter and concentrate on Favre and Bryant in a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in July. According to reports, the FBI has questioned Favre.
Mississippi sacked a lawyer investigating the welfare scam in the same month
Mississippi sacked a lawyer investigating the welfare scam in the same month. Brad Pigott, the attorney, stated that his efforts to determine whether the $5 million had been given to the USM volleyball stadium from federal welfare funds led to the termination.
