Stefon Diggs
The Bills appeared to have the season opener on Thursday under control with a fourth-quarter lead of 24-10 against the Rams.
But on third-and-4 with 9:33 left in the game, Josh Allen, the quarterback, rolled to his right and launched a 53-yard touchdown pass to receiver Stefon Diggs, delivering the fatal blow.
Allen said after the game that the Rams were eliminating many of his downfield options, so he didn't even try to complete a long pass for most of the evening. However, Allen recognized something at that moment in the game and improvised with Diggs to enter the end zone.
praised Allen's vision as a quarterback
Diggs stated after the game, "Josh encouraged me just to run," noting that the route wasn't even in the original play.
Diggs also praised Allen's vision as a quarterback, stating that he can see things many others can't get on the field.
Do as the quarterback directs, Diggs stated, "one thing I've learned."
According to Allen, the corners of the Bills "felt like they were looking at the quarterback."
"Diggs just ran a great route, and the offensive line stood up and protected for us. He came up there and performed for us.
Since the Bills acquired Diggs in 2020, the relationship between the two has been excellent. Through the rest of 2022, that connection should keep defenders on their toes.
