Wisconsin'S Elkhart lake: Alexander Rossi secured his maiden pole in three years and will head the starting lineup to the green flag at Road America on Sunday, attempting to end a nearly three-year winless record in the NTT IndyCar Series.
Rossi will start from the pole position in the Sonsio Grand Prix, which will hold on the 14-turn, 4.048-mile road layout where he won his last IndyCar Series race 44 races ago on June 23, 2019.
It's surreal to believe it's been that long, Rossi added.

INDYCAR ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA: How to watch the match on Sunday, schedules, and the entry last Rossi set a pace of 1 minute 44.8656 seconds in Saturday qualifying, placing the Andretti Racing driver on pole for the first time since Belle Isle in 2019, three weeks before his last victory.
Rossi stated, "It's been a long time since we've been in this position." It's incredible. It's fine. We'll enjoy it, but we've got a job to do.
The American became the eighth different pole winner through eight qualifying sessions, marking the most incredible parity in IndyCar since 1961. That season, there were nine different pole winners.
Josef Newgarden of Team Penske qualified second, followed by Alex Palou, the incumbent series champion, and Marcus Ericsson, the Indianapolis 500 winner of Chip Ganassi Racing.
Andretti's Colton Herta qualified fifth but will start 11th due to six-position penalties for an unauthorised engine change before the Indianapolis 500. Pato O'Ward of Arrow McLaren SP will start fifth, while Andretti's Romain Grosjean will start sixth. Will Power, the current IndyCar points leader, qualified 15th after failing to progress out of the first group after his win last weekend in Detroit. IndyCar never had a victor come from a position lower than 13th, except Alex Tagliani in 2004.
As she adjusted to her first IndyCar road circuit race since 2015, Simona de Silvestro qualified 27th and last on the grid for her maiden start. For the first time since the 2013 season finale, she and Tatiana Calderon compete in the same race.
In the meantime, Rossi has been on a tear for the past three weeks.
In the Indianapolis 500, he finished fifth, and last week in Detroit, he finished second to Power. He also stated last week that he would leave Andretti Autosport at the end of this season to drive for McLaren the following year.
There is no revelation, in my opinion. We aren't making any changes. According to Rossi, "Mistakes have limited, and chaotic occurrences have been kept under control, except for a clutch blowing up this morning."
