In Round 2 of the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) in South Boston, Virginia, Tony Stewart took the lead for the first time on a Lap 44 restart. He subsequently exchanged the information with Marco Andretti before securing his third career victory in this series and first on a paved track.
Stewart, the SRX series' co-champion from the previous year and champion, is the sole last victor.
The heat was under the drivers' helmets at South Boston after the Five Flags Speedway's Round 1 saw excessive temperatures.
Stewart was motivated to do everything it took to win after an incident in Heat 2, but he was unsuccessful.
Ryan Newman and Bobby Labonte, two more ex-NASCAR competitors, came in third and fourth, respectively. Last week's victor Helio Castroneves completed the top five in the lineup of 12 cars.
When we took the lead, Stewart said, "Seeing these supporters cheering kept the motivation going." Stewart was speaking to CBS Sports' Matt Yocum. Not that I require much inspiration. I would not let the South Boston supporters down when they were cheering for you every time you took the lead.
In the second heat, Stewart and Ernie Francis Jr. set off pyrotechnics. Francis cut Stewart off while driving through congested traffic, angering the ultimate victor.
After Heat 2, Stewart stated, "They've upset Uncle Tony right now, so they are about to receive a dose of it they don't want." "Believe me, I've got every nasty trick in my bag, and I know them all. The following someone on the outside and abruptly turning across once he is clear is the dumbest thing a person can do. The following someone on the outside and abruptly turning across once he is clear is the dumbest thing a person can do. I'm done trying to get along with everyone.
Stewart approached Francis and shook him by the collar of his firesuit after the heat.
Francis declared, "I'm not going to take that away from him." "I understand that he is the boss, but rubbing is going on outside. He sprang up inside of me, but I didn't notice him.
Along with Andretti and another person, I was two wide. I turned down and just in time noticed his automobile.
What proportion of that was for the camera? Later, Stewart and Francis could be seen laughing and grinning as the movie started.
Paul Tracy vowed to develop a kinder, gentler image before the season started. That was immediately abandoned after too much touch at Five Flags Speedway the previous week tried his willpower. After Castroneves passed him as they competed for the lead in Heat 2, he will not have had a change in attitude toward the racing action.
Castroneves stated, "In my opinion, it was a racing incident." "People begin to owe each other slightly more as they become more aware of their rights and obligations. I was finding it really difficult to leave the building. I kept getting shoved into the wall by people.
Michael Waltrip and Ryan-Hunter Reay got into a collision in the movie that totaled Waltrip's vehicle.
On lap 6, Andretti retook the lead. Throughout the following ten circuits, Stewart attempted to overtake him multiple times. Greg Biffle joined the fray as they competed for the lead. Biffle was hard-hit by Andretti as he tried to make an aggressive pass while battling for second. Andretti was damaged when he fell to the back of the field. He came in eighth.
