Smith started the game 13 of 13 times
The Seahawks led the Broncos 17-13 at the half after Geno Smith and Russell Wilson squared off in the first half.
Before replacing Rashaad Penny, Smith started the game 13 of 13 times. He completed 17 of his first 18 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
Only three times since 1991 have Seahawks quarterbacks thrown for at least 150 yards and two or more touchdowns while completing at least 90% of their passes. The other two were played by Wilson, once in 2016 against the Lions and once in the same year against the Jets.
Seven penalties by the Broncos cost them 71 yards
With 11:26 left in the first quarter and 2:24 left in the first half, Smith threw touchdown passes of 38 and 25 yards to Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson, respectively. On fourth-and-one at the Denver 7 on the team's second possession, Smith lost his footing while attempting a quarterback sneak, preventing the Seahawks from building a more significant lead. Short of the gain line, he was stopped, and he lost the ball on downs.
Wilson completed 10-of-15 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown strike to Jerry Jeudy of 67 yards. After failing to find the end zone in 2021, Jeudy's first touchdown pass came in the final game of his rookie season.
With 33 seconds left in half, Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs dropped an interception that bounced off his chest, allowing the Broncos to score a field goal on the last half play. Brandon McManus made field goals of 30 and 40 yards.
Seven penalties by the Broncos cost them 71 yards.
