The American golfer withdrew from this 'major' due to severe pain in his right leg.
After he experienced his worst day in a Grand Slam tournament on Saturday, American star Tiger Woods decided not to compete on Sunday in the fourth and final round of the PGA Championship, the game announced.
Woods, contesting his second event following his February 2021 car accident, finished his third round on a nine-over-par 79, falling back to the bottom of the pack.
At the end of the round, his worst result in the PGA Championship, the winner of 15 Grand Slam tournaments, warned that he was not sure he would finish the event due to pain in his right leg due to the multiple fractures he suffered in the collision.
"I'm in pain; that's a fact. We'll do a little therapy and see how it goes," Woods said at the end of his round.
"I didn't play well, I didn't hit the ball well, and I didn't start like I needed to. I couldn't stop bogeying; I didn't do anything right. I didn't have many good shots and, by the way, I ended up with high numbers ".
