Baker Mayfield
Baker Mayfield has played many games of retaliation in his football career.
Oklahoma
After transferring from Oklahoma, he returned to Texas Tech in 2016 and defeated Patrick Mahomes in a 66-59 victory. Mayfield planted an OU flag at midfield in Columbus following a victory in 2017, a year after Ohio State prevailed in Norman.
In 2018, after former Browns coach Hue Jackson joined the Cincinnati coaching staff, Mayfield faced the Bengals' sideline.
Panthers receiver Rashard Higgins
According to Panthers receiver Rashard Higgins, who worked with Baker Mayfield for four years in Cleveland, "when Baker is out there, swinging (his arms), with his chest out... that's what we want to see — him talking his talk, and walking his walk," as reported by Steve Reed of the Associated Press. "He performs well when he's hyped up. I thus want to hear it from him.
Mayfield is jacked up, all right
He has denied telling a reporter for NFL Media that he planned to "f— up" the Browns in the first game of the year. However, his team started selling Mayfield T-shirts sporting a cowboy hat and the phrase "off the leash," which depicts him escaping a dog collar's chain.
Though he emphasized that he didn't design the T-shirts, Mayfield claimed they included "subliminal meanings."
Gratitude for his time in Cleveland
The fifth-year quarterback acknowledges that he enjoys "smack talking" with former teammates but didn't provide any Wednesday.
Mayfield expressed his gratitude for his time in Cleveland. "There is a reason why everything happens, and my career there ended abruptly and unexpectedly, but we are here today. I'm embracing the challenges.
No one doubts that Mayfield intends to vent his frustrations on the Browns on Sunday, but what will happen if he does is anyone's guess.
