The disciplinary hearing with the NFL of Deshaun Watson, the quarterback of the Browns, is beginning on Tuesday between reports that the league is forcing for a suspension that would last for almost one year, and the chances of that ban have led some to wonder if Baker Mayfield would come back in Cleveland to the lineup.
On Tuesday, Baker Mayfield was questioned if there was an opportunity for reconciliation with the Browns during the time of a youth football camp in Norman, Oklahoma. Baker Mayfield discussed that “it has been pretty, of course, the mutual decision on both sides is to move forward” in spite of the doubt about the accessibility of Deshaun Watson.
Baker Mayfield discussed with the Carey Murdock, “No. I think for that actually to occur, there would have to be some engagement. But we are fully prepared to move forward, I predict, on both sides.”
Baker Mayfield was also questioned about not to trade away from Cleveland after months of the trade for Deshaun Watson. He said he “got disappointed with it not occurring before the event of minicamp and all those stuff,” but that the approach of the team is out of his authority, so he will just resume staying to look what happens.
Josh Dobbs and Jacoby Brissett are the next quarterbacks on the roster in Cleveland, and, with the exception of a reversal on the Baker Mayfield front, one of them would be stepping in for Deshaun Watson if and when the league suspends him.
