Titans returner Kyle Philips muffed Sam Martin's kick
In the third quarter of Monday night's game against the Titans, the Bills punted for the first time this season, but they didn't end up putting their defense on the field.
Titans returner Kyle Philips muffed Sam Martin's kick, and linebacker Tyrel Dodson of the Bills was able to retrieve the ball. With 7:32 remaining in the third quarter, the Bills took over at the 20-yard line but could not move the ball, so Tyler Bass entered the game and made a field goal to increase their advantage to 27-7.
For the second week in a row, Philips fumbled a punt. The 2022 fifth-round pick might not have a chance to make it three in a row after the first one occurred in the fourth quarter of their 21-20 loss to the Giants in Week One.
Before Monday night, the Bills had gone six games without punting. After Matt Araiza's departure, Martin's kick was his first since joining the team.
