Daniel Snyder
Daniel Snyder, the owner of Commanders, testified in-depth before the House Oversight Committee in late July. The man who worked for Snyder for ten years as a key staffer was the subject of a second long interview by the Committee on Tuesday.
Committee for ten hours
Bruce Allen, the former president of the Commanders, spoke before the Committee for ten hours, according to Ben Standig of TheAthletic.com.
Although the meeting was held privately, the Committee has the right to make any, all, or some of the testimony public. None of Snyder's testimony has been made public to this point, probably to prevent any direct or indirect effect on Allen's evidence.
Snyder and Allen
Snyder may have placed a great deal of blame on Allen for the terrible workplace environment that led to multiple employee grievances and concerns, which spurred a 10-month investigation by lawyer Beth Wilkinson, the findings of which the league continues to withhold obstinately.
The accounts from Snyder and Allen could be significantly at odds with one another. Based on Allen's responses, the Committee may want to interrogate Snyder more.
Wilkinson public
Regardless, today's developments demonstrate that the inquiry is still open and ongoing. The Committee appears to have a wealth of information that it may share with the public at some point in the future, even if the NFL won't make any of the information revealed by Wilkinson public. The outcome might be the same to the extent that the information the league withheld corresponds with the testimony gathered during Snyder and Allen's depositions to prevent a groundswell of criticism that might require an effort to remove Snyder.
If/when the Committee makes public what it has discovered, the clamor for a long-lasting change at the organization's top may grow increasingly loud.
