Bryson DeChambeau has completed Rocket Mortgage.
Rocket Mortgage's break with the 2020 U.S. Open winner was confirmed by company representative Aaron Emerson to ESPN on Thursday, citing DeChambeau's aspirations to compete in the LIV Golf Invitational Series.
Rocket Mortgage has been a long-time sponsor of the PGA Tour, both as an official partner and as a tournament host, according to a statement released by Emerson. "The Rocket Mortgage Classic has swiftly established itself on the Tour, with players flocking to Detroit to participate while simultaneously helping close the digital gap in our city." As ambassadors of our collaboration with the PGA Tour, we have several well-known golfers, including Bryson DeChambeau.
Rocket Mortgage has terminated its sponsorship arrangement with Bryson as of right now. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours."
The Centurion Club in London hosted LIV Golf on Thursday. The PGA Tour said shortly after the LIV Series' first tee shots were struck, any existing or future LIV players would be suspended permanently.
DeChambeau, on the other hand, hasn't been suspended yet because he won't be playing this week in London. He's reportedly going to attend LIV's next event, which will take place from June 30-July two at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland, Oregon.
DeChambeau has been a brand ambassador for Rocket Mortgage since 2021, having won the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detriot Golf Club. At the previous year's competition, DeChambeau broke with his caddy, Tim Tucker, on the eve of the event and did not talk to the media during the week, where he missed the cut.
DeChambeau isn't the only player who has lost sponsorship due to his participation in the Saudi-backed competition. Dustin Johnson and Graeme McDowell's partnership with RBC was cancelled last week. Unlike Johnson and McDowell, as well as others who have switched to LIV, DeChambeau has no plans to leave the PGA Tour.
