Sean McVay
Sean McVay, the Rams' head coach, stated that the running back needs to show more urgency and accountability after Cam Akers only participated in 12 snaps in the season opener.
McVay claimed on Wednesday that he spoke with Akers
It's a byproduct of my faith in him, the goals we have for him, and what we need him to be—which isn't anything more than what he can be—to get us to some of the heights I think we're capable of, McVay said. "I adore Cam, so. He and Darrell should be able to rely strongly on one other, and I want him to be that guy (Henderson). That is what it must be capable of being.
McVay occurred during training camp
Akers claimed that the discussion with McVay occurred during training camp and that he was taken aback by the latter's small participation in the season-opening game. Akers only gained zero yards on three carries.
Akers acknowledged that it was annoying, but he also said he didn't want to "make it too large, bigger than what it is."

According to Akers, who spoke to ESPN's Sarah Barshop, "If the coach doesn't believe I'm being urgent, then [I need to] be more urgent." That is the crux of the matter.
According to Akers, McVay was referring to practice rather than games.
Akers declared, "I'm going to take whatever the coach says and use it to my advantage. "Say whatever you want. I will use it as a lesson and go forward from there. Maybe I'm not always right, whether I believe it to be so or not.
Receptions for 26 yards against the Bills
With 13 carries for 47 yards and five receptions for 26 yards against the Bills, Henderson played 54 snaps. If Kyren Williams' early ankle injury, which would cause him to miss 6 to 8 weeks, hadn't occurred, Akers might have seen even fewer opportunities. The Rams will need Akers to fill in for Henderson while Williams is gone.
