Daniel Suarez
DARLANDON, S.C. Daniel Suarez, a playoff contender, will start Sunday's Southern 500 at the back of the pack after his car failed inspection three times before Cup qualifying at Darlington Raceway.

He was disqualified from the race and could not choose a pit stall, so he will not be permitted to qualify. A pass-through penalty will also be imposed on Suarez at the beginning of the race.
Make a few tweaks
After Cup practice, Suarez remarked, "We're in a little bit of a hole starting the race, but I'm not too worried about it." The automobile feels quite comfortable. We need to make a few tweaks, in my opinion. We can probably improve it a little bit. I believe we have a chance to truly win the race if we can accomplish that.
