Mexican driver Daniel Suarez made history in the NASCAR Cup Series on June 12 after winning Trackhouse Racing at Sonoma Raceway, making him the first Mexican to take the victory in the category.
In this way, Suarez celebrated his 195th race in the circuit and also achieved the second victory for a Latin American, after what was achieved by Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya.
His victory looked more after leading a large part of the race and seeing the checkered flag, 3.849 seconds ahead of his closest pursuer.
This way, the top 5 was completed with Chris Buescher, Michael McDowell, Kevin Harvick and Austin Cindric.
Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, the pilot did not hide his emotion for climbing on the podium. He said he was grateful for all the support and trust he received during his career in the category.
"It's a crazy day. I have many thoughts in my head right now. I mean, it's been a rough road. It's been a rough ride in the Cup Series. These guys believe in me: Crackhouse Racing, Justin Marks, Ty Norris. Everyone who helped me get to this point. A lot of people in Mexico: Jay Morales. My family never give up on me. A lot of people did, but they didn't. I'm so happy we were able to make it work.
Daniel Suarez, after the celebrations, will prepare for his subsequent participation in the NASCAR Cup Series, which will take place on June 26, inside the Nashville Superspeedway.
