Cup playoffs get underway
With the Southern 500 on Sunday night, the Cup playoffs get underway.
After winning the regular season championship, Chase Elliott begins as the top-ranked driver, but only nine points separate fifth from sixteenth in the standings. Since the start of the current playoff format in 2017, this is the closest the field has been.
Darlington
Darlington, Kansas, and Bristol are the teams competing in the Cup playoffs' first round. Nine of the 16 playoff drivers from the previous season's Southern 500 finished outside the top 15.
