Derek Chisora
Derek Chisora got a necessary close victory against Kubrat Pulev.
English multi-contender Derek Chisora gave his career a break by notching his first win since 2019 with a tight split decision win over Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev.
The scores were 116-114 and 116-112 for Chisora, with another 116-112 verdict in favour of the resilient Pulev. The closeness of the scores reflects how close the fight was and how exhausting it was for both.
Chisora was looking for revenge for that duel they had in 2016. And although the fight started well, setting a fierce pace and landing several strong body shots, as round 12 approached, everything became more complicated as fatigue showed its effect, but the will take them forward. Editors' Choice
Kubrat Pulev forced his way into the fight.
The pace displayed by Chisora was soon absent as Pulev forced his way into the fight, and he was able to turn things in his favour as he went on and pumped the way to a more frontal war. However, despite the exhaustion and aggressive hooks, Chisora sought to keep his rival away from him and even cut him twice, one on the right eyebrow and another on the left eyebrow.
Both went all out in the finals, and there was tremendous anticipation when the scores were read, as the home crowd was desperate for their man to raise their hands, having been denied several wins during his career.
Olexandr Usyk
With this win, War Chisora snapped a three-fight losing streak - two to Joseph Parker and one to Olexandr Usyk - and improved to 33-12 with 23 KOs.
Chisora received justice, and his incredible story still has a few chapters to go as he looks to secure another big fight with one of the top names in the heavyweight division for cash and glory before saying goodbye.
