Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry, a running back for the Titans, missed the second half of the 2021 regular season due to a broken foot and struggled upon his comeback in the playoff defeat to the Bengals.
Before getting hurt, Henry was on track to have another outstanding season, but those two events prompted some to wonder if Henry's six seasons in the NFL would eventually result in diminishing returns.
That doesn't seem to be the Titans' opinion. Henry stated on Thursday that he is eager to return to the field this weekend against the Giants after receiving a raise last week.
Wink Martindale
On the team website, Henry stated, "I'm just hungry." "I cannot be concerned about [what others may say]. Just concentrating on what I have to do. I'm famished and prepared to leave. I want to improve, and I want to aid my teammates in improving. I'm concentrating on Sunday. Up until the ball is snapped, I just take it all in and prepare. The first game of Week One has all the feels. There will be a lot of excitement, but all you need to do is get ready, settle in, and get ready to play.
Wink Martindale, the defensive coordinator for the Giants, made it obvious this week that he was not one of Henry's detractors when he compared the running back to Jim Brown. The Titans will likely win if their defense can't do something to make it seem like a reach.
