Lawrence Frank
Lawrence Frank, the president of basketball operations for the Clippers, announced to the public on Thursday that Kawhi Leonard has been given the all-clear to play 5-on-5. Kawhi Leonard wants to accomplish "everything," he added, but they will proceed with caution.
Frank added, "One, he feels wonderful. Frank answered, "Two, his strategy is, look, he wants to participate in everything. "And I believe number three is that we'll exercise caution organizationally. The process will be step-by-step. Law Murray (h/t)
Western Conference Semifinals
After breaking his ACL in the Western Conference Semifinals of 2021, Kawhi was out for the whole previous season. In both the play-in tournament and the Western Conference Finals that year, the Clippers suffered defeat. Every year since Kawhi and Paul George teamed up in Los Angeles, there has been a "what if" scenario.
Additionally, Frank stated that George is in perfect health and had a "very productive off-season." Last season, PG missed 43 games due to an elbow ailment. The club has a long history of injuries, but things are improving as the season begins.
Norman Powell
Kawhi's comeback to the court was not given an official timetable by the team. Kawhi wants to do "everything," which obviously includes the preseason. He might play in the preseason, albeit that would only be a very small sample size. On October 3rd, they will play Portland in their first exhibition game.
With their star combination healthy again plus the additions of Norman Powell, Robert Covington, and John Wall since the 2017–18 trade deadline, the Clippers have high expectations for this campaign. To prevent injuries from derailing their season once more, they will exercise extreme caution.
