News conference
When the Jaguars declared Ryan Santoso had been released earlier on Tuesday, they had no kickers left on their roster.
However, that won't last for very long.
In his Tuesday news conference, head coach Doug Pederson disclosed that the team had picked up James McCourt off waivers. On Monday, the Chargers released McCourt.
kicked eight field goals of at least 50 yards.
McCourt attended high school in Florida despite being a British football player. At Illinois, where he later played collegiate football, he kicked eight field goals of at least 50 yards.
"It's fantastic. Regarding McCourt's powerful legs, Pederson noted, "That part of it you appreciate. "Of course, consistency is a quality you seek in kickers. And that will be an excellent chance for him and us to continue the process. Before kicks signify anything, we still have a little bit of time. However, he will benefit from the chance.
Pederson stated that his club is attempting to get McCourt to Atlanta as the Jaguars visit this week for joint practises with the Falcons.
In preseason play with the Chargers, McCourt did not try a field goal, although he was successful with both extra point attempts.
