Some of the top NBA players will compete in EuroBasket in September. Along with himself,
Giannis Antetokounmpo will wear the Greece jersey along with his three siblings. Nikola Jokic of Serbia will start the game.
For France, Rudy Gobert will participate. For Lithuania, Domantas Sabonis will put them on.
The Slovenian squad that already had Luka Doncic signed up now has Goran Dragic.
Dragic led Slovenia to the 2017 EuroBasket title with 35 points in the championship game. He is a basketball-winning icon in his own country and still has more to offer. The two NBA players on the team's insurance were a source of initial anxiety, although that has since been resolved.
Slovenia emerged from group play, defeated Germany in the first medal round, but fell to France in the semifinals to finish fourth in the 2020 Olympics. Slovenia lost to Australia in the bronze medal match. They come into EuroBasket as a group with an excellent chance to medal.
Slovenia will play in Group B at EuroBasket 2022 alongside longtime allies Germany and France, Hungary, Lithuania, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Even though that group is strong, only the top four will move on to the 16-team medal round (finishing higher in the group should make the path through the single-elimination rounds easier).
Dragic will serve as the Bulls' backup point guard this season and might significantly improve the bench in Chicago.
