ARDMORE, Pa.: With eight singles matches scheduled for Sunday at Merion Golf Club, Amari Avery helped the United States take an 8 1/2-3 1/2 lead over Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup.
Avery, an 18-year-old golfer from Riverside, California, who just finished her first year at Southern California, went 4-0 in the fourball and foursomes events.
In the morning, Emilia Migliaccio and Latanna Stone also won for the US, defeating Charlotte Heath and Louise Duncan 1 up.
For GB&I, Caley McGinty and Lauren Walsh won 1 1/2 points by defeating Kuehn and Jensen Castle in fourball 5 and 4 and halving with Rachel Heck and Rose Zhang in foursomes.
Darling and Fuller also won for GB&I in foursomes, defeating Castle and Stone 2 and 1.
