Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal
The Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal hosts the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix after two years of absence from the North American country due to the pandemic. Will Ferrari be able to stop Red Bull's winning streak?
Formula 1
Formula 1 is back in Canada, one of the countries that have suffered the most from the consequences of the pandemic in terms of automobiles. Fortunately, that has been left behind, and one of the world's most appreciated and spectacular circuits welcomes the World Championship teams and drivers again.
Of course, some arrive with more urgency than others. Ferrari has been met with three successive disappointments when it had a chance of victory, turning the championship round in a dramatic fashion.
Suppose Max Verstappen himself gave up the championship after Australia. Many rules out Charles Leclerc from taking the title at the end of the season. The only thing sure is that there are still two-thirds of competition left, and Ferrari must cut Red Bull's streak of five consecutive victories.
This is how the starting grid looks in Canada.
The starting grid for the Canadian Grand Prix happens to be one of the most unexpected in recent years, especially when it comes to some of the drivers who have managed to get a place in the top ten.
But, without a doubt, the one that stands out the most is Fernando Alonso, who took advantage of the rain to fight for the pole until the end and ended up getting a place on the front row of the grid together with Max Verstappen. But the Alpine driver was not the only surprise, as the two Haas drivers and Guanyu Zhou were among the best.
Instead, Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc were absent. The first was due to an accident in Q2, and the second was after being penalized for exceeding the regulation's limit of engine components.
