Max Verstappen, who has lost his past two starts, is still the favorite to win the 2022 French Grand Prix at Circuit Paul Ricard, according to the PointsBet Sportsbook odds, although he is no longer showing a minus line for the first time in four rounds.
Verstappen had not won consecutive races this season until Carlos Sainz, Jr. won the British Grand Prix and Charles Leclerc triumphed in the Austrian Grand Prix. Verstappen earned his eighth podium in 11 races with a second-place finish in the contest. This week, his opening odds for the race and the pole are +125 and +120, respectively.
George Russell and Sergio Perez, both with lines of +1400, round out the top five.
Russell, Hamilton's teammate, hasn't had a victory either, although he hasn't had as many setbacks. He has ten top-five results in 11 races, including three podiums. The most recent of these occurred at Round 8 of the Azerbaijan GP. Russell has only made two appearances at Paul Ricard, with the best placing of twelve.
Perez has only had one victory this year, but he has finished in second place five times. His most recent close call occurred two rounds ago at the British Grand Prix. In the previous six rounds, Perez had two DNFs, while the other four finishes were second or higher.
Sainz comes in sixth. He has made three appearances on this track and has two top-10 finishes in 2018 and 2019. He came in 11th place the previous year, just missing that goal. Sainz has finished on the podium six times in seven races this year, including his victory at Silverstone two weekends ago.
