Gabriel Jesus
Gabriel Jesus looks set to trade the North West of England for London as his impending transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal draws close.
According to widespread reports, the two clubs have reached a verbal agreement on the transfer with a fee of £45m/$55.2m, which will be enough to guarantee his signing at the Emirates Stadium. Now, it's just to agree on personal terms before formally announcing the transfer.
It looks like it's only a matter of time before Jesus joins the Gunners to help bolster their forward line under Mikel Arteta.
The Sporting News looks at the potential deal and the qualities the Brazilian could add to Arsenal in the coming years.
The latest from Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal: He almost crossed the line
Gabriel Jesus has been a significant contributor to Manchester City but never quite took on the role of the club's central striker amid stiff competition from the likes of Sergio Aguero in recent years.
It seems likely that their game time will be limited at the Etihad Stadium next campaign because Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez will spearhead their attack in 2022/23 under Pep Guardiola.
A commendable record is scoring 95 goals in 236 appearances for City in all competitions. Still, Jesus may feel that a move to Arsenal can help him establish himself as one of the most lethal strikers in world football due to the more playing time.
It looks pretty likely that he will receive his wish in the next few days.
Gabriel Jesus's contract, fees, and salaries
Gabriel Jesus reportedly earns £90,000/$110,000 a week at Manchester City, with a total annual salary of £4.68m/$5.74m.
If his move to Arsenal goes through, he could get a massive rise in take-home pay. Journalist Nabil Djellit claimed that the Brazil international had been offered £13.7m/$16.8m per year to join the Gunners, working out a monstrous £264,000/$324,000 per week.
This would make him the highest earner on the Emirates payroll, overtaking Thomas Partey, who earns around £200,000/$245,000 a week patrolling the midfield.
