Quarterback for the Buccaneers
Tom Brady, the quarterback for the Buccaneers, has spoken frequently about his general situation in recent weeks, even though he hasn't said all that much. In a recent interview with Elle, his wife, Gisele Bundchen, gave some commentary on the state of her husband's profession.
She reiterated earlier remarks she had made in public, expressing her apparent concern for Brady's health and well-being.
Considering that this is a rather brutal sport and that she is a mother of young children, she said she had some reservations. "I've discussed such topics with him numerous times. But in the end, I believe everyone needs to choose a course of action that suits them. He, too, must follow his joy.
The conversation took place "weeks" before Brady's puzzling 11-day absence from training camp. When contacted again by Elle this month regarding rumors of marital conflict, she declined to comment.
Charlie Rose about Tom's brain injury five years ago
She caused controversy when she spoke to Charlie Rose about Tom's brain injury five years ago.
She admitted as much in May 2017: "I just have to say, as a wife, I'm a little bit — as you know, it's not the most — let's say [it's] an aggressive sport." Football, as though he suffered a concussion the previous year. He has concussions; we just don't talk about them. He does, however, experience concussions. Exposing your body to constant violence of that nature is unhealthy for it. You know that can't be good for you. When we're like 100, I hope he'll be well and up to all kinds of exciting stuff.
Brady is motivated to continue by the greatness
She acknowledged that it is "sexist" to portray her in the Elle interview as being "desperate" for Brady to retire. However, accepting the apparent fact that she wants him to "be more present" and stop putting himself in danger by hanging out with boys who are half his age or younger is not "sexist." What else is he meant to prove, she allegedly told him after Super Bowl LV?
Brady has pushed the envelope further than any other professional athlete ever has. The needle on the petrol tank has been moved way past E, and he has continued. She has every right to expect him to act his age and move on to new business ventures that won't subject his health and mind to further deterioration. Even though it is his life and his choice, she and the rest of the family are affected. And it's reasonable to urge him to decide whether to continue playing when he's no longer in need of the cash, the trophies, or the recognition by striking a better balance between risk and reward - selflessness and selfishness.
Brady's career is currently in an unheard-of state in every way. There is no instruction manual to read and no one to ask for guidance. Both on the inside and the outside, it's unparalleled.
Brady is motivated to continue by the greatness that got him this far. His most complex issue might be figuring out how to carry on while upholding his more significant commitments and obligations.
