Collin Morikawa used Twitter on Tuesday morning to confirm that he is staying on the PGA Tour despite the rumour mill going into overdrive.
Morikawa stated on Twitter that "I said the media enjoys generating drama." When I awoke this morning, everyone believed I was the next. Not that I said I told you so, but I did.
"Just for the record, I'll repeat it: You're all completely mistaken. Nothing has changed since I declared in February at Riviera that I intend to remain on the PGA Tour.
It's an extension of what Morikawa said at the U.S. Open last week when he branded all of the rumours and conjecture about the LIV defections as a "distraction" for him and his peers. No reputable media outlet has claimed that Morikawa plans to leave the league since he has made it plain that he has no interest in joining the Saudi-sponsored rival league. His name is still being thrown around online, and he claimed that his friends had pressed him to address the most recent claims.
He remarked in Brookline, "It's crazy to see and hear all these rumours because that's what they are, right? "I can read all these things, but parents everywhere warn their children not to believe anything they find online. We are acting in this manner. We are currently carrying out just that.
A two-time major champion and fourth-ranked player in the world, Morikawa, 25, is one of the Tour's most significant players. He recently competed in the U.S. Open, where he placed sixth.
