Tottenham has plunged in to sign Ivan Perisic on a free move as this summer Antonio Conte has already withdrawn from the transfer market.
Ivan Perisic has rejoined with Conte, whom he played for at Inter Milan, and signed a two-year contract until the summer of 2024 at Spurs.
The Croatian international won the title Serie under Conte in the 2020-21 season. He spent his last seven years at Inter.
This is what former Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, and Borussia Dortmund winger had to say about his move to the Premier League.
Croatian star ready to pass on his experience
Ivan Perisic says," he is excited to join Conte again. It is an honor to work with a coach like Conte. He is committed to his work and always thinks about football, even when sleeping. It was a perfect year as we won the league after 10 or 11 years, and I'm excited to see him again. I like his dedication to football, and I'm sure we will do a great job together".
He added, "I'll bring my expertise and experience in football and try my best to bring something new and achieve Tottenham targets. I'll bring my hard work to the team, which will lead us to win something important for Tottenham". He also mentioned that "it was his dream to play for the five best leagues in the world and was left with the premier league only. I hope it will be a perfect time for me. "
Where will Perisic play?
He won big trophies at Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Inter, and Bayern. He also scored goals in a World Cup final for Croatia in 2018 and regularly delivers brilliant performances. He works very hard and is the best fit for a Conte 3-4-3 system.
He will mostly play on the left side and can play as a left wing-back in this Conte team system. He will clash with Ryan Sessegnon for that starting point.
He will help Conte attack for certain games when he makes Heung-min Son, Harry Kane, and Dejan Kulusevski rest. He can also play at the right wing-back position and bring his more advanced skills to the team. The most important thing is that Perisic will bring up his skills and experience to the team, helping out the rest.
Conte is pleased with Tottenham's hierarchy now, and it shows that everything is in the right direction, exactly what Conte was looking for; he will sign a new long-term contract very soon. Spurs will have to raise their wage bills not to miss these golden opportunities.
