Jason Jenkins
On Saturday, Jason Jenkins, senior vice president of communications and community relations for the Dolphins, passed away suddenly. The team confirmed his passing during the club's game against the Eagles halftime.

Tom Garfinkel, the team president and CEO released a statement saying, "It is with deep sadness that I relay the news that Jason Jenkins, Dolphins SVP of Communications and Community Affairs, has gone away." "The death of a man who was a good friend to many people has devastated our hearts, and we are grieving his passing. For 14 years, Jason devotedly served the Dolphin's organization. He also served as a community leader, a pioneer, and a champion for others. But most importantly, Jason treated people with respect and dignity, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Our thoughts are with his wife, Elizabeth, and his three children, as well as with them.
He represented the company in its outreach initiatives and acted as the confidant of owner Stephen Ross.
20th annual Pillar Awards this summer,
During the city's 20th annual Pillar Awards this summer, Jenkins was presented with the Corporate Pillar Award.
Native of Houston
Jenkins, a native of Houston, graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1997. He received the Outstanding Alumni Award from his alma mater in 2017 and spoke at commencement the following year.
He had previously worked for Texas Southern University, Lehigh University, and the 49ers.
Liya, Aiden, Sloane, and Jenkins' wife Elizabeth's children are still living.
