On Saturday, the Broncos worried for a moment that they would be without their best nickel cornerback for quite a while, if not the entire season.
K'Waun Williams hurt his knee during a practice session. According to Mike Klis of 9News.com, an MRI showed no structural damage. Williams is only anticipated to be absent a few days.
Late in practice, the injury occurred. Williams injured his knee after rookie receiver Montrell Washington caught a long touchdown throw from quarterback Russell Wilson through Klis.
Williams left the 49ers and signed with the Broncos as a free agent.
He started eight of his 14 games from last season. Before that, he spent two seasons with the Browns and five years with San Francisco.
Given their division, the Broncos would need their top edge for most of the season. Pat Surtain II and Ronald Darby will cover the outside receivers in the nickel defense while Williams focuses on the inside.
