It feels like the Jimmy Garoppolo situation in San Francisco might be much more problematic than it is now.
While the 49ers wait for an acceptable trade offer, which may or may not arrive before the start of the regular season, Garoppolo has been given the all-clear to practice. Trey Lance, the team's third-round choice from the previous year, has taken over at quarterback while Garoppolo has diligently worked on the side.
The team's head coach, Kyle Shanahan, claimed on Friday that despite quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo being there at public practices, there isn't any discomfort that arises.
In his press conference, Shanahan said he and Jimmy had a great connection
. The reality of the issue is not a secret. He seemed to comprehend the problem well. We understand the circumstance completely. We thus do our best. Jimmy is present.
Each day, he feels better and healthier. I keep seeing him. We get along really well with Jimmy. He's made some excellent decisions here. It doesn't surprise me that fans are getting excited about him and that our players still like seeing him.
Shanahan said that Garoppolo and the team have decided that it is ideal for this arrangement for Garoppolo to work out on the side.
It was the best choice for both. In other words, if Jimmy wanted to attend every meeting and participate in everything, we would certainly let it. That is probably not at all what he would desire. He didn't thoroughly choose it, and when we asked him, that was true. He is only attempting to prepare his body for, hopefully, the upcoming circumstance.
Barring a severe quarterback injury, the club would trade for Garoppolo is unknown. Throughout the offseason, there hasn't been much, if any, reported interest. As of this writing, the rosters can still be changed before they are reduced to 53. The Bay Area is still in a holding pattern, though, for the time being.
