London Irish have reported the signings of Ed Scragg and Josh Caulfield from Championship outfit Cornish Pirates in front of next season
The pair have played global rugby at age grade level, with Scragg addressing Wales under-20 of every 2019 and Caulfield previously addressing England under-20.
The 22-year-old Scragg is one more player to get through the Cardiff Met creation line, and really played close by future Exiles partner Tom Pearson there.
Lock/back-column Caulfield has played north of 100 games for the Pirates and took the extremely durable action to the Championship side in 2020 after already being double enlisted with Exeter Chiefs.
After the signings were reported, London Irish head of rugby Declan Kidney said: "Myself and the training staff are eager to invite the folks on board at Hazelwood.
"Ed is a youthful ability, and we are sure that he will foster his abilities here at London Irish. We are anticipating seeing what he can add to the crew.
"Josh is a decent, flexible player and has tasted life in first-level rugby previously, and myself, Les and the other mentors accept he will again embrace the move forward to Premiership with us."
After Caulfield's flight was reported last month, Pirates joint lead trainer Alan Paver told their site:
"When Josh first showed up, he was an extremely young fellow and all through we have been lucky to have had him.
"His presence has been tremendous as far as we're concerned on the field, and he will definitely be missed in the motor room, recalling however that he can play either in the subsequent line or at '6'.
I apologize for seeing Josh go, simultaneously we as a whole wish him well with his subsequent stage and I really do feel that Premiership rugby is most likely the coherent movement for him."
The signings have been declared the day after London Irish figured out they will confront Top 14 bosses Montpellier and United Rugby Championship victors Stormers in the Heineken Champions Cup next season.
