Luis Castillo
The Mariners defeated the New York Yankees 7-3 on Wednesday in the MLB, in a match with star pitcher Luis Castillo's debut with the Seattle team as a great attraction.
The Dominican worked for 6.2 innings, allowed three earned runs and five hits, and struck eight rivals. He also gave up three walks.
Considering that he was facing the team with the best record in the Major Leagues and on the road, his first commitment with the Mariners can be regarded as very positive.
Major Leagues
The Dominican, 29 years old and with seven years of experience in the Major Leagues, arrives in Seattle from the Cincinnati Reds to reinforce a starting staff that already has rookie Logan Gilbert and 2021 Cy Young winner Robbie Ray.
For the Mariners, it is an excellent acquisition since the Dominican will not be a free agent until 2024. For the 2022 season, he agreed to collect $7,350,000, which meant an increase of three million dollars compared to 2021; the pitcher and the Reds avoided arbitration.
Seattle has not attended the postseason since 2001 (the worst current streak in the MLB), and they will seek to end that curse with their new figure.
