Josh McDaniels
Given the caliber of the roster and Josh McDaniels' departure as offensive coordinator, the Patriot's offense is still a work in progress.
The penultimate practice
In the penultimate practice before Week One, starting quarterback, Mac Jones managed four drives on Friday night in Las Vegas. Jones rolled to his left and threw a terrible interception to receiver Kendrick Bourne, who was the proverbial needle in a stack of six Raiders.
Last year, Jones quickly changed into a full-fledged Stepford Patriot. He showed some genuine human annoyance last night, especially after the interception in the course of the game.
Jones told reporters
Following the 23-6 defeat, Jones told reporters, "I think I care a lot about this game, and I sometimes get a little bit too passionate." "I attempted to clear the plate and start again after the interception and everything else. Occasionally, it's about letting your frustration out and moving on.
In response to Jones' admission of dissatisfaction, coach Bill Belichick displayed his customary lack of reaction.
Belichick replied, "I don't know. Everyone, I'm sure, experiences emotions differently.
kicking the ball away
Jones also stated that he needs to improve at getting the ball out, whether at the top of the pocket or by stepping up. He noted that offensive linemen are in a horrible position when sprinting. He takes great delight in stepping back, moving up one or two steps when necessary, then kicking the ball away.
It appears simpler than it is. The Patriots appear to be attempting to make things as simple as possible. Even though Belichick is still in complete control of everything, a lot has changed since the Patriots returned to the playoffs in 2021 after missing out in 2020.
