Josh McDaniels
The departure of longtime coordinator Josh McDaniels, who left to become head coach of the Raiders, seemed to be affecting the Patriot's offense during the preseason. However, according to Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, the offense is improving behind the scenes.
Boston Herald, Jones stated on WEEI
Jones expressed confidence going into the start of the regular season because practice field improvement has persisted even after the preseason.
According to the Boston Herald, Jones stated on WEEI, "I'm pretty pleased with the progress we've made, especially in the last couple of weeks." It only needs to be placed on the field.
Lions, and Joe Judge
The Patriots haven't announced a new offensive coordinator, but it looks like Matt Patricia, a former head coach of the Lions, and Joe Judge, a former head coach of the Giants, are leading the charge. That is unexpected given that Patricia has focused mostly on coaching defense and Judge has focused primarily on coaching special teams. Still, Jones stated he doesn't believe there will be a noticeable difference this season.
Jones is unconcerned
He remarked, "I believe nothing changes. "We have a lot of highly smart football coaches in addition to our players. In my opinion, we did a wonderful job of coming together, just finding a middle ground and then carrying out our plan. Both extremely excellent quarterbacks and successful teams, in my opinion, do it.
Fans of the Patriots would hope that Jones would rebound from a strong rookie campaign and advance even further in Year Two. Although that didn't appear to be occurring in the preseason, Jones is unconcerned.
