Mairis Briedis
Mairis Briedis will put the IBF cruiserweight title on the line.
After several postponements, Jai Opetaia will finally get his shot at the IBF cruiserweight title when he takes on reigning champion Mairis Briedis this Saturday.
Australia's Opetaia
Undefeated in 21 fights as a professional, Australia's Opetaia will be Briedis' toughest test since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in 2018.
The pair were initially scheduled to meet on April 6, but their duel was canceled after the Latvian champion contracted COVID-19 and the flu.
Opetaia suffered a rib injury.
May 11 was the new date for the fight, but it had to be canceled after Opetaia suffered a rib injury.
Now, with the hope that there will be no more setbacks, the two men will finally face each other this Saturday, July 2, in Australia.
