Max Homa is still adjusting to his celebrity status on the PGA Tour.
On Wednesday, the four-time Tour champion told a tale about being invited to take a picture inside a portable bathroom at a friend's wedding. The area was unquestionably strange, he declared. At Comerica Park on Tuesday night, Homa complied with further demands for selfies with his admirers while also watching the Padres play the Tigers.
Because I don't believe others should be snapping pictures of me, Homa added, "It's just one of those things that still feels odd."
. "I'm not sure. You don't anticipate snapping pictures with many strangers at a Detroit Tigers game or winning the Masters when you're a youngster practicing on your home putting green, but it is what it is.
Homa's newfound fame shouldn't come as a surprise, given how he has been acting recently. Home is already a well-known social media personality. He ranks seventh in the U.S. Presidents Cup standings and has won twice this season alone. He is an excellent shot at making the American team automatically or via captain's pick.
Homa mentions that he has also never played at East Lake. Still, with only four tournaments (two of which are playoff events) remaining before the Tour Championship, that is likely to change this year since he now sits No. 11 in the FedExCup standings.
Making the top 30 is one of many players' main objectives every season because it earns a place in all four majors. Although Homa is comfortably inside the top 50 in the OWGR, he still has a larger objective to achieve this season, which is why he has decided to play in this week's Rocket Mortgage Classic instead of skipping any of the three remaining tournaments.
Homa stated, "After looking at where I was on the list, I wanted to add it to make a little push to potentially sneak inside that top 10 for the Comcast [Business Tour Top 10] to provide a bit of a boost heading into the playoffs to sort of chase down Scottie [Scheffler] and Cam [Smith]. So, returning to a course, I know and enjoy seemed incredibly suitable to gain momentum before a week's break before Memphis. I thought it would be preferable to practice on a top-notch golf course during my three weeks off at home when it's a billion degrees and get ready to attempt to peak at the right moment after the season.
After next week's Wyndham Championship, anyone who places 10th in the FedExCup earns $1 million in extra cash. Out of the $20 million pot, No. 1 receives $4 million. Players will still be rewarded handsomely for getting it to East Lake, where the FedExCup champion will win $18 million.
