Nelson Piquet apologized to Lewis Hamilton for the racist language he used to refer to the seven-time world champion.
Piquet, a three-time Formula One champion, said he was "clumsy" in uttering a term about the Mercedes driver and that it could be considered racist. Piquet noted that he did not mean to offend.

The 69-years old Brazilian has come under fire this week for his Portuguese comments on a podcast in November. When referring to Hamilton, he used the expression "Seguin" (black in Portuguese).
F1 championships in the 1980s
"What I said was clumsy, and I am not going to defend it, but I will clarify that the term used has been widely and historically used colloquially in Brazilian Portuguese as a synonym for 'man' or 'person' and was never intended to offend," Piquet, who won all three of his F1 championships in the 1980s, said in a statement.
