Four NFL head coaches managed their first games in their roles on Sunday. They all triumphed.
I'm just referring to head coaches who have never before coached in the NFL. Miami Dolphins player Mike McDaniel. The Giants' Brian Daboll. Vikings player Kevin O'Connell. Bears quarterback Matt Eberflus. Success after success. Four out of four. Among the four, one is a favourite (McDaniel).
Tonight in Seattle, Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett has a chance to go 5-for-5
The men who have previously served as NFL coaches didn't fare as well. Coach Lovie Smith of the Texans tied the Colts. Doug Pederson, the Jaguars' head coach, fell to the Commanders. Josh McDaniels, the Raiders' head coach, fell to the Chargers. However, Todd Bowles of the Buccaneers and Dennis Allen of the Saints defeated the Cowboys and the Falcons, respectively. That's 2-2-1.
