The NFL's new season
The NFL's new season will begin on Thursday of next week. The Bears will also hold an "informational community meeting" at the same time regarding their proposed new Arlington Heights home.

The session is planned to last from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by the Bears. On September 8 at CDT, the John Hersey High School gym in Arlington Heights.
Technically speaking, the meeting has nothing to do with the stadium. If the Bears purchase the site, it has to do with the 326 acres' potential for development. But if that occurs, what would they do but construct a stadium?
Village of Arlington Heights
The meeting is described as "informational only and should not be confused with an official public meeting hosted by the Village of Arlington Heights," according to the Bears' notice. As the Bears note, any necessary meetings will take place later if the project process proceeds.
Abandoning Soldier
It nonetheless demonstrates the Bears' seriousness about the prospect of abandoning Soldier Field for what the release refers to as "a transit-oriented mixed-use entertainment area anchored by a stadium that would be one of the largest development projects in Illinois state history."
Whatever it means, the Bears might move out of Chicago's downtown.
