Usyk will pay off the former English champion in Saudi Arabia.
World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will put his IBF, WBA and WBO world titles on the line against his former owner, England's Anthony Joshua, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, August 20.
One of the biggest rematches in sports history, Usyk vs Joshua 2, dubbed "Rage on the Red Sea," will take place nearly three years after the historic "Clash on the Dunes" held at the Diriyah Arena, in which Joshua reclaimed his heavyweight crowns by beating Mexico's Andy Ruiz.
Under the patronage of HRH Mohammad bin Salman, the eyes of the sports world will once again be on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as "AJ" seeks revenge on Usyk and regain his place atop the heavyweight division...
Joshua was dethroned as the king of the heavyweights by the Ukrainian star Usyk in September 2021, before more than 60 thousand spectators at the London stadium of Tottenham Hotspur, in a memorable evening.
Since their first meeting, Usyk, the former undisputed cruiserweight champion, has gained more global attention after putting the rematch on hold to support his nation during the conflict with Russia.
"I have a goal; with the help of the Lord, I will complete my mission," Usyk said.
"What a rollercoaster ride, fighting for the world heavyweight championship for the 12th time in a row," Joshua said. "I won the belt, I unified the division, I won another belt, I lost the belts, I became a two-time unified heavyweight champion, and now I have my date with history to become a three-time unified heavyweight champion of the world. What an opportunity."
Eddie Hearn, President of Matchroom Boxing, said:
"We are thrilled to land one of the biggest heavyweight rematches in boxing history and give Anthony Joshua the chance to win back what he lost in London last September. Game in this unified world heavyweight championship match, and it couldn't be a bigger fight. We know Oleksandr Usyk is a great fighter, and we saw him last time, but I know Anthony Joshua is more determined than ever."
