Patrick Mahomes
In the Chiefs' victory over the Chargers on Thursday night, quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed passes to nine different receivers, just as he did in their victory over the Cardinals in Week 1. That is all part of the strategy, he claims.
The Chiefs expect to spread the ball around a lot coming season, keep defences guessing, and be the kind of attack that is challenging for any defence to prepare for, according to Mahomes, who said this after his team defeated the Chargers.
It's going to be everything with the number of tight ends, running backs, and receivers we have," Mahomes said. "There will be a lot of men collecting passes, rushing the football, tossing the football, and deep passes. It makes us a complex offence to neutralize. And if the defence keeps playing like they did today, we'll win many football games.
Tyreek Hill's departure was a significant off-season story. Still, through two weeks, Patrick Mahomes hasn't noticed much of a difference without Hill: Mahomes has completed 73 per cent of his passes for an average of 8.0 yards per attempt, with seven touchdowns and no interceptions, and the Chiefs are 2-0.
