Thad Foucher from Wasserman, Russell Westbrook's agent since he first played in the NBA 14 years ago, and Westbrook has broken off their relationship due to "irreconcilable differences" in how they view Westbrook's future.
According to Foucher's statement to ESPN, he wanted Westbrook to "stay with the Lakers, accept the starting job, and backing that Darvin Ham publicly promised." Westbrook seemed to be looking to leave.
However, according to Dan Woike and Brodrick Turner at the Los Angeles Times, Westbrook never requested a trade from the Lakers.
Westbrook may not have formally requested a trade, but was it necessary? Whether Westbrook asked it or not, the Lakers have been looking for a business all offseason.
But there are just more volume numbers. There are concerns regarding his willingness to play within a team's scheme because of his poor shot selection, ineffective shooting (29.8 percent from three last season and a proper shooting percentage of.512, significantly below the league average), and inadequate shot selection. He is also a liability on defense. While Westbrook still has a lot to offer many clubs in the appropriate role, their perception has changed due to his $47 million contract. And this is where those Laker's draught picks come into play.
It makes little difference whether Westbrook switching agents is related to finding a trade or not to the market for his talents. It is constrained and requires the Lakers to forfeit picks.
