As the competition enters its second year and expands globally, all ten events of the 2022-23 Nitro Rallycross season will be aired live on one of the major television networks.
Nearly 80 hours of heats, qualifiers, and main events will be shown on television, with repeat broadcasts on digital platforms.
The season will go off on June 18-19 at Lydden Hill, England, and will take Nitro Rallycross to six countries and three continents. The series will also travel to Sweden, Finland, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and England. The season will conclude in March 2023 at an undisclosed location in the United States.
In a statement, Mike Perman, vice president of programming, stated, "We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Nitro Rallycross for a second consecutive season, and our digital platform is the perfect spot for NRX superfans to come for every minute of live racing." NRX racing's action-packed, inventive style is a natural fit for the company's extensive motorsports portfolio.
The calendar from last year had five rounds, with eventual champion and series originator Travis Pastrana winning both times. The 2021 championship was so close that the winner was decided on a tiebreaker; Pastrana defeated Scott Speed. Timmy Hansen won the inaugural championship in 2018 and was only one point behind in third place.
Nitro Rallycross includes purpose-built courses that condense rally racing action into a single arena. The 2021 circuits included a mix of asphalt, dirt, and sand, as well as jumps that lifted the drivers above the roofs of the vehicles racing below. Banked turns gave the course a dirt track feel, allowing cars to collect momentum before blasting down the straights.
Joe Carr, CEO of Thrill One Sports & Entertainment, remarked, "It's amazing to have Nitro Rallycross back on Peacock for another season." This season, Nitro RX will expand to ten races worldwide and premiere the FC1-X, our all-electric, 1000+ horsepower supercar. Digital Sports, including market leaders like NASCAR and INDYCAR, is the ideal home for our innovative new motorsport.
