With the latest momentum to move the Jaguars away from Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and Georgia defensive line Travon Walker, the Lions sit very well at number 2.
Michigan was born. Michigan gave birth. A Michigan man, side by side. In addition to his top-notch ability, his local connections will help put donkeys in the Lions’ seats.
Teams must be good enough to compete. They also have to have enough players for the fans to want to appear. Of the options available at the top of the draft, Hutchinson is the one who helps the Lions do both.
If they want a quarterback (and they should), they can deal with that later. Or they could trade the Baker Mayfield. But Hutchinson should be the Lions’ stupid decision if he’s in No.
Some who choose low enough to get a Walker or Hutchinson (and thus have no way of making a slide in one of them) believe Hutchinson is the best player.
The Lions are well aware of this, and soon maybe the final litmus test to see if they are finally on the right track.
