The Texans have chosen to provide Davis Mills,
The third-round quarterback of 2021, with the keys to offense for 2022. Davis Mills and coach Lovie Smith discussed the development of quarterback as the team winds up its offseason program with a compulsory minicamp.
Davis Mills discussed with reporters, “I feel like I’m in the best position”. “Of course, there remains a lot of room for improvement, but more flexible, more confident out there with the offence and my team members around me. Prepared to keep improving and enter the season.”
The reason for being more flexible and confident is his experience from his rookie season. Davis Mills said, “Only having experience and being able to make quick, gentle decisions and secure the football”. “I think experience is a major factor in how my game improved by the last season. These reps I have received this offseason are extraordinarily beneficial, and I am excited to keep improving. I still have a lot remaining to be proved to my teammates and myself to go out there and return with victories, but we are all delighted for it, and I want to keep moving ahead.”
Tyrod Taylor received the majority of the reps last year in the training camp and offseason, as Davis Mills was learning the ropes. Davis Mills is holding the rope this year.
“I am still left with much to be proven,” DavisMills said. “Got the chance to go out there and win the job each and every single day and put my great foot ahead each and every day out here during the practice. It’s delightful, and I want to keep proving that to the people.”
He is proving it to his coach with the work ethic that will support him get to the roof where that can be.
Love Smith discussed with reporters, “We feel great about him, improvement.” “If you go through, I think maybe 38, 37 days or so we have gone through of actual work here, and you are a person like Davis Mills who is the first person in the building and the last person to exit, he has received a lot of reps, a lot of guidelines. I have seen him making some plays we are familiar with he is able to create.”
As a rookie, Davis Mills started 11 and participated in 13 games. He brought about 2,664 passing yards, had ten interceptions, and threw 16 touchdown passes. He did 66.8 per cent of his throws.
Texans really want to hire Davis Mills. There has been scant chatter about Houston potentially adding a veteran to supplant Mills. For example, they could have quickly asked for Baker Mayfield as part of the Deshaun Watson trade. They didn’t.
There has been little speculation that Houston could potentially replace Davis Mill with an experienced veteran. For example, they could easily ask for Baker Mayfield as part of the Deshaun Watson trade. They did not ask.
Will they select Baker Mayfield or 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo if either or both players are minimized? There has been no clear image provided that they would — which means that they are not willing. Or that G.M. Nick Caserio is showing his level best to feign lack of willingness unless one or the other, or both, are free and understandable.
