Ed Abramoski, who was the head athletic trainer of the Bills for most of the history of the franchise, died at the age of 88.
Ed Abramoski created such a result on the Bills that when at the age of 37 years, he received retirement from the team, he was included on the Wall of Fame of the group, an exceptional honor for a trainer.
When Bill’s former guard Billy Shaw was admitted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
he requested Ed Abramoski to be his presenter, another uncommon honor for a coach.
In the 1950s, Ed Abramoski went on to play college football, but when a back injury finished his playing career, he diverted his attention to keeping other players strong and active. He received education to become an athletic trainer and worked at the University of Detroit, the Detroit Lions, and the US Military Academy before the Bills appointed him to perform the role as their head trainer in 1959, one year before they played their first season in the American Football League.
Ed Abramoski received retirement in 1996, and in 2002 a book was published by him, The Tale of the Tape: A History of the Buffalo Bills from the Inside, about his overall observations with the team.
