We are all prepared for a very hectic summer of transfer activity as the most recent transfer rumors keep pouring in, and several high-profile players are anticipated to move shortly.
The summer transfer window for 2022 starts on June 10 and closes on September 1 at 6:00 p.m. ET.
This summer seems to be unlike any other, with Erling Haaland already committing to Manchester City, Kylian Mbappe remaining at PSG (for the time being), Sadio Mane departing from Liverpool, and a host of other superstars in high demand and considering transfers.
The past 18 months saw only a few transfers, but now there is a flurry of activity.
Below, Joe Prince-Wright (JPW), Nicholas Mendola (NM), and Andy Edwards (AE) will lead you through the hectic upcoming months by compiling the most recent transfer news, done deals, reports, and rumors and providing our analysis on what is happening. Blues attempt to sign Frenkie de Jong before Man United on August 1.
According to a sport report in Spain, Chelsea is making a solid effort to lure Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona.
According to the rumor, Chelsea would also trade Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta to Barcelona before spending $82 million for the Dutch midfielder. De Jong, 25, has been linked to Manchester United throughout the summer, but he doesn't seem eager to play for a group outside the UEFA Champions League.
N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are nearing the conclusion of their careers. Therefore, as Chelsea participates in the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel must look to the future.
The Catalan club has recently gushed about the Man City and Portugal star, and the article also claims that Barca would move for Bernardo Silva if they trade De Jong.
For Chelsea's 3-4-2-1 style, De Jong's exquisite ball control and positioning would be ideal. He and Mateo Kovacic might maintain the status quo for five years.
The primary concern right now is De Jong's desire to leave Barcelona.
He has so far said that he is content with his situation at Barca, but club president Joan Laporta and his manager Xavi keep putting pressure on him.
Both of them frequently state that they don't want to sell him. Still, they also refer to the "economic crisis," according to claims that Frenkie de Jong is being urged to accept a pay cut even though he is apparently due up to $20 million in payment deferrals starting in 2020.
Erik ten Hag will not be pleased if Chelsea beats Manchester United to the acquisition of Frenkie de Jong because he will miss out on the player he wanted to center his midfield around, and a top four competitor would gain strength. (JPW)
Chelsea is "working on deals" for defenders as of July 31. Denzel Dumfries, Wesley Fofan
Wesley Fofana, a central defender for Leicester City, has drawn interest from Chelsea in the past week. The Blues have opted to continue their pursuit of the 21-year-old Frenchman (not yet capped at the senior level for France).
But Chelsea won't get a deal for anything; according to David Ornstein's story on Sunday, Leicester values Fofana at $100 million, give or take a few million.
In his debut season with the Foxes, Fofana emerged into the Premier League scene at 19. However, he was forced to miss the 2021–22 season after breaking his leg. He was out from August until mid-March.
Right back for Inter Milan, With captain Cesar Azpilicueta approaching the age of 33 and ,being frequently associated with a move away from Stamford Bridge, Denzel Dumfries is another name that is supposedly high on Thomas Tuchel's shopping list. The 26-year-old international from the Netherlands (35 caps) moved to Inter last summer and took home the Coppa Italia in his debut campaign. (AE)
Brighton issues a definite deadline and asking amount for Marc Cucurella to Manchester City on July 31.
Marc Cucurella, a left defender for Brighton, allegedly submitted an official transfer request earlier this week to force a trade to the two-time defending Premier League winners. Brighton notified Man City on Sunday that, without a $60 million offer, there would be no more discussions over the 24-year-old Spanish international.
This has (roughly) been Brighton's position on Cucurella throughout the summer, and it appears that nothing has changed due to the transfer request. According to reports, Man City made an offer of $36.5 million, about the amount they paid Arsenal to acquire the recently departed left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. (AE)
Newcastle offers James Maddison $48.7 million, but Leicester rejects the deal on July 30.
There have been some whispers and predictions that James Maddison would be leaving the King Power Stadium this summer because he only has two years left on his current deal with Leicester City. Newcastle United has submitted a $48.7 million bid for the 25-year-old offensive midfielder to Leicester after being made aware of the circumstance. According to reports, Leicester rejected the deal; nevertheless, the Magpies will probably make a second, better offer shortly. (AE)
On July 29, Man United expressed interest in Benjamin Sesko of RB Salzburg.
The agent of RB Salzburg attacker Benjamin Sesko allegedly spoke with Manchester United's sporting director John Murtagh. Sesko, a 19-year-old striker from Slovenia, is Salzburg's next big thing after scoring in their recent preseason victory over Liverpool.
The youngster is incredibly talented. The Manchester Evening News said that Salzburg wanted more than $66 million for Sesko. Although it appears that United cannot afford that price, this link may indicate that they are searching for a new forward and potentially a breakthrough in the Ronaldo problem.
This demonstrates that Sesko matches Erik ten Hag's strategy of recruiting some of the best young talents in Europe. United would be wise to attempt and get Sesko right away because Salzburg has traditionally been a hotspot for Europe's upcoming breakthrough players (Sadio Mane, Erling Haaland, and Dominik Szoboszlai, among others).
Erik ten Hag has a good selection of offensive options because they now have Marcus Rashford,
Anthony Martial, and Jadon Sancho as their first-choice front three while the Cristiano Ronaldo rumor continues. However, he is pressuring United to bring in fresh talent, concentrating on bringing in quality rather than quantity,
as seen by the acquisitions of Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, and Christian Eriksen. (JPW)
Marc Cucurella submitted a transfer request on July 29.
Well, things are getting worse. Fabrizio Romano claims that Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella has submitted a transfer request to expedite his transfer to Manchester City.
According to various sources, Man City and Brighton have not yet agreed on a transfer fee. This most recent development claims that there is still a "huge difference" between the two teams' assessments of Cucurella. Oleksandr Zinchenko's successor by Pep Guardiola is expected to come from Brighton,
and the Seagulls are aware that Man City has money to spend after selling Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, and Zinchenko this summer.

Marc Cucurella submitted a transfer request on July 29.
Will Cucurella lead Man City into every game? Joao Cancelo at left-back will likely make it difficult for him to advance past him straight away, but if Cancelo is moved to right back and Kyle Walker is rested or serves as one of the center-backs, the aggressive full-back should have plenty of playing time.
Even Brighton manager Graham Potter said that the Seagulls recognize that players have aspirations to play for larger clubs, and Cucurella appears to be an ideal match for City's style. Cucurella, 24, is now attempting to push through his superior transfer, so there is only one possible outcome: Cucurella playing for Man City this season. (JPW)
