As a member of the Buccaneers, Tom Brady faced the Saints four times during the regular season. He is yet to succeed.
So why did that occur?
Brady told reporters on Thursday that turnovers are perhaps what stands out the most. They are a highly physical team, and I believe they physically outmatched us. It's just a hard-working, tough squad. They have a lot of talented players, and they are well-coached. They've had a successful organization for a while now. They are capable of completing the task. On both sides of the ball, they have many outstanding core players who have remained with the team for a long time. You have to go play, even though it's a challenging atmosphere to do so. You face good teams on the road, so you must play well. We haven't done a very good job the last few times we've played them.
Buccaneers replicate their postseason
Nearly every indication points to Brady wanting to play with the Saints. According to sources, Brady might have moved to New Orleans in 2020 if Drew Brees hadn't returned. (Apparently, despite Brees' return, the Saints almost pursued Brady.)
How can the Buccaneers replicate their postseason performance against the Saints in the regular season?
Brady remarked, "I just believe it's recognizing why we're losing those games." Every game has its own set of reasons why. You can examine them to learn why we triumphed over them once and why we fell short the next time. Football must be played well on offence, defence, and special teams. They're a much better team than you are to believe that you can win one round and take the match. They are well-coached, well-positioned to succeed, have a lot of talented players, and many people who have played together for a long time, so it is a challenge. They make you work for everything; they don't make many mistakes. Every third down, every kickoff situation, every third down in the low red area, and turnovers all carry equal weight. Many factors influence winning and losing, and we have not done well in those areas during the regular season. We'll have to play a lot better if we want to win.
Saints thrashed the Bucs 38-3
The games throughout the regular season haven't even been close. The slightest difference was seven. In Tampa on a Sunday night in 2020, the Saints thrashed the Bucs 38-3.
The Saints have Tampa's number for whatever reason. On Sunday, the Bucs will have another opportunity to change that reality.
